Cinn-Apple Oatmeal

I love old fashioned oatmeal, and apples and cinnamon seem to be one of the most perfect combinations to add in! (My other favorite is blueberries and cinnamon). That’s really all I have to say about this one. 

Ingredients:

1 cup old fashioned oats
1 3/4 cup water
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup chunky apple sauce (or 1 apple, finely diced and boiled until soft – drain water)
2 TBS brown sugar (or honey and molasses)
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Bring the water and salt to a boil in a sauce pan. Add the oats and apple sauce and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the oats are softened, stirring occasionally. Add the remaining ingredients, and stir together.
Serve in a bowl, topped with milk.
