My mom started making this cake for our Birthdays many years ago, and since then it has been our favorite! Why? Because it is so moist in comparison to regular cake, and why not add a little more flavor to your cake?! You can choose any Jell-O flavor, really, and even add fresh fruit on top! You won’t be sorry you tried this cake!
1 white cake mix (and ingredients per the box’s instructions)
1 large box of orange Jell-O (or your preferred flavor)
3 cups of water
1 box of vanilla instant pudding
2 1/2 cups milk
1 small container of cool whip, thawed
Fresh fruit such as oranges, strawberries, bananas, etc (optional)
Make the cake batter and bake the cake in a 9×13 pan, according to the instructions on the box. Once it has finished baking, allow it to cool completely. Using a tool such as a kebab stick, or something of similar diameter, poke holes all over the cake.
Make the Jell-O, only using 1 1/2 cups boiled water and 1 1/2 cups cold water. Pour the Jell-O over the cake, making sure to get a fair amount in all of the holes which you made. Cover the cake and refrigerate until the Jell-O has set up.
Make the pudding, using 2 1/2 cups of milk (not the 3 cups as recommended by the box). Spread the pudding over the cake and allow it to set. Then spread the cool whip over the pudding, and top with fruit.
Cover and refrigerate any remaining cake.
